Totoro Forest Project

2008  Totoro Forest Project Auction, Emeryville, CA Guest artist. Created and donated an original plush piece for the Care to Share for auction. The beige one is a replica I made later for myself. The theme of the show was “forest”.

The process I took was very manual. I made a paper maquette, wraped it in foil, draw seam lines, pelt, clean up the pattern and sew. Of course I had to make couple prototypes for final pattern and design adjustment but over all it went fast. I think I had very clear finish product image so I just went for it. Sometime having a minimalist sewing machine helps to just “sew” instead of trying out anything fancy. The piece was sold in the silent action and someone I know happened to be the highest bidder so my little friend went to a good home. Several years later, as I was filing my patterns, I decided to make one for myself to remember how I was excited and enjoyed getting back to my inner creative soul.

This event inspired me to return to personal art work. I devote myself to my professional work but this was a good cause and I could not, not contribute.
